Travel Restrictions for Family Members
Current travel restrictions due to COVID-19 will have an impact on many people who can鈥檛 travel to Canada right now, including parents, siblings, relatives or friends. These restrictions stop most discretionary travel to Canada (such as visiting or vacation travel). Your immediate family members, which only includes spouses, common-law partners or children, may be able to come with you to Canada but only under strict conditions.
It may be possible for your family members to come live with you in Canada during the duration of your studies. In most cases, 鈥渇amily鈥 includes spouses, common-law/conjugal partners, and dependent children. If your family members enter Canada without you, they may be admitted on visitor status for up to six months.听 Family members most often apply to come initially as visitors. They may need to pass a听听in advance.
