Avoid the flu and stay healthy this year

Each year, мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ Student Health & Wellness offers flu shot clinics to the мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ communities in Halifax and Truro. Students, staff and faculty (and their families) are able to get their flu shot for free*. Mobile clinics are set up at various locations through Dal campuses during the fall (vaccine availability pending).

Our Halifax campus will have both the regular flu shot and the high-dose flu shot for people 65+.Ìý

Please note: All flu shot clinics on the Agricultural Campus will be held in the Student Health & Wellness Centre (formely known as Health Services) located in the Dairy Building. COVID-19 vaccines will also be available to those getting their flu shot.

Symptoms of the flu

Common flu symptoms include:

  • Stuffy or runny nose and sneezing
  • Sore throat
  • High fever
  • Aches and pains
  • Fatigue
  • HeadachesÌý

Be proactive!

Take these simple steps to prevent the flu:

  • Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly
  • Keep your hands away from your face
  • Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that you touch often
  • Cough and sneeze into your arm, not your hand

Why should you get the flu vaccine

The flu is responsible for about 12,200 hospitalizations and 3,500 deaths in Canada each year. The vaccine is safe.Ìý Getting the flu shot every year will help to:

  • Reduce your chances of getting the flu
  • Protect the people around you. The flu is contagious and can spread quickly and easily. You can spread the virus without showing symptoms
  • To avoid serious complications that can result from the flu including pneumonia and respiratory failureÌý
